 You may be running an old software. Please connect the LyngBox to the internet using a cable. Restart the LyngBox and when it boots up, it should show a message asking to upgrade. Let the LyngBox upgrade to the latest version of software and the WiFi option will show up. 
 If you have any other devices connected to your LyngBox through the USB port(s), please remove them and only keep the WiFi stick and try again.

No, these are two different technologies. The WiFi stick is only available to connect to a WiFi Access Point (router).  
 The Software does not currently support connecting over a hidden SSID 
There is no current support for authentication of wireless networks whose keys are WEP encrypted. Check through your router's home page, that the encryption of your network key is using WPA, or WPA2 and not WEP and try authentication again. 
 Make sure your wireless adapter is inserted correctly in one of the 4-USB slots in the back of the device.
Press the display format toggle button followed by enter button. If nothing changes, try the same steps again.
